Fire Chief: Josh Horner
Sugar Island Fire Department was established for faster response to emergencies and fires for the residents of the Island. The department is made up of strictly volunteers. The fire department holds training every month and provides mutual aid to other townships when needed.
BURN PERMITSAnybody wishing to receive a "Burn Permit" must call 1-866-922-2876. For more information contact the Michigan Department of Natural Resources at Michigan.gov/BurnPermits to see if permits are being issued for our area.
